Tradeshow Brief
Year: 2026 Under Employment: Freelance Deliverables: Concept + Final Art Handling
Challenge
The Smithers Materials Science and Engineering Division required exhibition booth artwork for the Tire Technology Expo in Hannover, Germany. While the booth dimensions and structural layout were predetermined by the convention, the visual concept needed to be developed (ideally in the same style as a popup banner I had designed previously), and final production-ready artwork prepared and delivered to the on-site fabricator.
my role
My responsibilities included reworking my previous popup banner concept for a large-sale format, artwork production, coordinating with the fabricator, and preparing print-ready files for final production.
Approach
Because Smithers specifically requested that the booth align with a previously designed popup banner, no new concept needed to be established. The booth specifications were provided as individual flat panel dimensions accompanied by assembly sketches outlining the final structure. Pre-determined build elements (including integrated light strips and a mounted TV monitor) also needed to be incorporated seamlessly into the overall design system.
I developed the artwork using a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and created dimensional mockups in Adobe Dimension to help the client visualize the finished booth prior to production.
Result
All assets were delivered on schedule, and the completed booth closely matched the approved mockups. The Smithers team reported that they were very happy with the booth design, and that it felt on-brand and consistent with the production quality of the event as a whole.
